Stswecem̓c Xgat̓tem First Nation (SXFN) is seeking a dynamic individual for a full time, Teaching position. The staff are working hard to ensure high quality student learning and need a strong and experienced leader to support current initiatives, as well as lead the team and uphold the mission and vision of Rosie Seymour School.

Our school is located in the heart of the Cariboo in the community of Stswecem̓c (Canoe Creek), a semi-remote community accessible by road, only 125 kilometres from Williams Lake, BC. People who relish outdoor recreation will find ample options right at your doorstep. Whether you enjoy hiking or cross-country skiing, to fishing or hunting, to off-road pursuits, our territory is abundant with opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast. You will also be welcomed by our community and embraced as a leader in our territory. As well, you will be included and welcomed at our community events, activities, and gatherings.
 
The Stswecem̓c community has approximately 100 community members, 18 of which are students at our school (K4- Grade 10). We currently offer a full breakfast and lunch program to the students and staff. We want our children to have a strong foundation in their language and culture, and support this throughout our delivery of curriculum and school activities. We engage both students and parents in our Hunting Camp as well as hosting the Annual Rosie Seymour Traditional Powwow. Everyone is engaged in our garden harvest and a variety of other school activities.
We are seeking an individual who will join our team, believe in the inherent gifts of our children and community, and ensure that the high standards we want for our children are achieved. You must be able to build authentic relationships, support and deliver quality instruction, as well as be a champion for each and every child in our school. Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Education Degree
- Must be in good standing with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch of the Ministry of Education
- Experience integrating technology (smart-board, I-pad) into teaching strategies
- Experience with Aboriginal Education
- Experience with Special Needs students.
- Must a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence (Class 4 an asset)
- Must be able obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid WCB Approved Level 1 First Aid Certificate
